It’s summertime – don’t ya just love it??? So many things to do in the great out-of-doors! I love to relax by the pool with my hubby (hoping to do just that this weekend – at least for a few hours), some family/friend fun, and of course – hitting the garage/yard sales is at the top of my list!! What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?
Things have been moving right along…Springfield in May (a fabulous time was had by all I must say!!). A week later, Susan and I traveled to Baltimore to see my daughter and son-in-law (big fun helping put some things together in their new home, and doing a little sightseeing too), and now…it’s the calm before the storm (ha ha), organizing (?) my basement workspace, going to some sales, and starting to stockpile some great vintage finds, and get projects together for our next show… The Summer Market, on beautiful Lake Erie in Avon Lake, Ohio…here are the details:
The Summer Market is a unique outdoor festival and benefit held in Avon Lake, Ohio, right on the shore of Lake Erie. Thousands of guests visit the Market each year to shop for furniture, jewelry, art, vintage items, fresh produce, home decor, and a variety of other goods from 55 vendors. Guests dine from three featured restaurants and listen to live music while watching the sun set or playing at the beach. It is a great event that should not be missed!

July 28 • 9 am to 4 pm
Rte. 83 & Lake Road
Avon Lake, Ohio
Hosted by Erin Stack and Kristen Weeden
We love this show, the talented artists/vendors, all the great customers, the food, the music, the lake, AND…I just wanted to say that the hostesses with the mostest – Erin & Kristen (and their fabulous crew/families), take care of business in this 1-1/2 day show – it’s all very organized, fun and so unique! Everyone is just as busy as bees the whole time!!
Erin and her daughter, Zoe!
This is definitely an event that is worth the trip to the north coast!!
Here’s a peek at our space (and the show) last year – this year will be even better (promise)!
Look for our sign…
And, since I mentioned Springfield Extravaganza AND Baltimore…will share some pics (of course, right??)
The Vintage Marketplace at Springfield Extravaganza was a fantastic addition to this already wonderful show – a great cast of characters aka vendors/artists participated – and we’ll be doing it all over again in September – woo hoo!!
The weather was great (it got a little hot…but won’t complain – I stayed under the big tent most of the time), the crowds were there in masses, sales were amazing, and the fun was over the top!! To kick off the first Vintage Marketplace at Springfield, Sue Whitney of JUNKMARKET Style was there – along with her crew from Minnesota – and you know where Sue is…the fun junk follows – a blogger party, a shop-along, demonstrations, and just plain ol’ fun was a big hit for all involved! The Buckeye Bloggers even “performed” a little impromptu “O-H-I-O” to the tune of “Hang on Sloopy. The out-of-staters were a little surprised…but entertained I’m sure (we just can’t help ourselves when we hear that song….)!
Here are a few more pics…for your junking enjoyment!!
I’d like to thank Jon Jenkins (and crew) and Sue Whitney (and crew) for hosting such a great new show. It’s a perfect addition, and makes Extravaganza an even more fabulous and hugely successful show!
Be sure to mark your calendar for the next Springfield Antique Show & Flea Market Extravaganza AND The Vintage Marketplace – September 14-16, 2012. I’m pretty sure they’re planning even MORE fun and I bet we’ll have even more vendors…(If you’re interested in being a vendor…contact Jon Jenkins at email@example.com.)
AND, if you’re traveling and planning on staying over…make your hotel reservations soon – it looks like rooms are filling as we speak! Look for us in our regular spot (spaces 573/586 aka #8) under one of The Vintage Marketplace tents (we sure do love the tent – one less thing to do!).
P.S. I’d love to see some of my Texas friends venture north…for some Buckeye junk fun!! (hint, hint…)
Oh, and I did mention something about a trip to Baltimore…so better share some pics – or I’m sure somebody would wonder what was wrong with me! What a great place to visit – and I was so happy to see my grandpuppy, oh, and Tommy & Kristen too!! We helped fix, paint, organize and of course added a little junk to their new home (Thanks for your help Suse!!). Loved the historical buildings and the sights around the Inner Harbor. We stopped at a restaurant called HarborQue for lunch – and I swear we had the best pulled pork sandwiches ever! Will definitely visit there again. I also got a taste of my first frozen custard too – Rita’s…yummy – just sayin’.
Our junking excursion was HUGE fun! They took Susan and I to a place called Housewerks. Check out their website – it was junk overload for us – but, you know it was all GOOD!!! There was fabulous rusty, crusty unique oldness outside, inside, upstairs, downstairs. You could feel the ghosts of junkers past in the basement for sure!
Well, it’s time I let ya get the heck outta here and get some housework or something practical done…oh, yeah…and me too. I’m starting to think that every junker needs a housekeeper, oh yeah and a cook too – wouldn’t that be amazing??? We’d have so much more time for all that junk we love!!
Have a great summer day and happy junking!
P.S. I haven’t figured out how to put captions (and you know how I LOVE to narrate!) in with a photo album…any suggestions?? (OK…I just need to do a little research – Blogging for Dummies…here I come!)
