Well, Terri and I made our trip to the very first Vintage Marketplace at the Tailgate-Music Valley Antique Show in Hendersonville, TN (Nashville). It was held the first weekend in February. It was ideal traveling weather, and we had a “few” laughs along the way. We left on Thursday… and hit some junking spots in Kentucky and Tennessee. We met up with our friends Ericka and Ellen. Ericka was a vendor at the show – selling her fabulous redesigned vintage jewelry. Here’s her website to see pics of her fab stuff: Imakdee’s Recycled Recreations
So…I wanted to share some pics of our little junking adventure AND the start of something awesome…the Vintage Marketplace in Hendersonville, TN – AND its “sister” show – The Vintage Marketplace at the Springfield Antique Show & Flea Market Extravaganza – (mark your calendars – you don’t want to miss this fabulous addition to an already fabulous flea market – May 17-20, 2012).
Anyway, on to the pics!
A sweet little abandoned barn on the way… I saw it from the interstate, and Terri kindly drove down a few country roads so we could get up close and appreciate it! (And, don’t you always wonder…what’s inside??? I do!)
We stopped along the way to junk (I mean stretch our legs…)
Too funny…
Arriving at the Vintage Marketplace…so exciting!!!
And…there she goes – our friend and the Queen of Junk, Sue Whitney (she’s hard to keep up with!)
And, we felt right at home!!!
Welcomed by Kim Boyd-Hughes of Bungalow (Murfeesboro, TN). She had a fabulous space – just our style!
I L-O-V-E-D this chippy pink table!!
And…yes, it’s Magnolia Pearl – such a fun line of clothing!
Sue and Kim…
And, who doesn’t LOVE a cabinet FULL of cubbies??? Us junkers need all the storage we can get!! (I know there’s not one that wouldn’t agree!!!)
More beautiful things…
Oh my gosh…button heaven!!
Dusty’s Vintage (Buttons-linens-fabric-trim) The “pretty” was neverending…
Mother-of-Pearl…wow!!
These beautiful handmade buttons were created by Courtney Fall Tomchick,
It just kept going and going…
OK, so can you tell I really LOVE buttons??
This was another awesome space by Shambora Studios (Indiana) – beautiful “RELOVED'” things tucked in everywhere!
Amazing!!
Loved this wreath!
And, here we are…Ohio represented…our friend Ericka of ImaKdee’s Recycled Recreations - and her wonderful jewelry!!
She was a bizzy girl!!!
Here’s a space created by none other than JUNKMARKET Style’s Sue Whitney (in her spare time, I’m sure!!) – and she DOES have great style!!
Here are our friends Julie & Shannon of Gathered Comforts (from southern Illinois) – they are just the sweetest girls – and are so talented!
Love the hanging bottle planters!
And, then we were off to The Strawberry Patch (from Hartsville, TN) – another fun and creative space!
The bedsprings overhead were just way cool!!!
Here’s “our” sign!!!
And, again, Ohio represented…Lisa and Will of urban farmhouse Ohio!!! They have a fabulous shop in Thornville, Ohio and are traveling the countryside heading to some great shows too!!! (Next stop…JUNKMARKET Under Glass in Minnesota…March 1, 2 & 3)
And…time worn interiors (Glendale, KY) – AMAZINGNESS!!
I tried from a few different angles – (can you picture that???)…but it says “shop till you drop”!!
The shoppers were having lots of fun!! How could you not, right???
There were a lot of other vendors with wonderful, unique wares (you’ll have to mark your calendar for next year to see what’s in store!!)
It’s unanimous – the very first Vintage Marketplace was fab!!!
And, we ventured into the other portion of the show (the Tailgate-Music Valley Antique Show) to see what we could see…
It was an adventure…
This was a really old mannequin – we’ve never seen one like it (and he almost looked alive – except for the fact he had lost his head of course!!).
These were so sweet…
These old books had been well used for sure – and now they’re just great to look at!
These two little guys were looking for a new home.
Signs, signs, everywhere signs…
And, no I won’t be wearing one of these hats at Springfield!
This antique candy display was totally cool – the old glass containers, the metal stand…SWEET!!
Fabulous frames!!
Aren’t these absolutely divine??
And, at the end of the day…it was time for dinner with Sue and a fun group of junkers!!
Me and Ruth Barnes (of Graceland…I mean Memphis, TN) the Queen of the Southern Junkers (join them on facebook – a great group sharing lots of cool junk, ideas and resources!!) We had a fab time, but it went way too fast!! And, you know when junkers meet for the first time…it’s friends at first sight (actually I knew from chatting on facebook, we’d be buddies for sure!!).
Tables and tables full of junkers, antiquers, vendors, bloggers…oh my – what a group!! Wish we could have met them all!
And, yes, Sue was there…as warned…with bells on!!!
And here she is, getting ready for a junkers’ challenge. Groups were given a bag of “junk” to create something…and the sky was the limit for sure!! (I forgot to take a pic of ours…sorry)
What to eat…decisions, decisions, decisions… (We were all having too much fun just talking!)
Jon Jenkins of Jenkins Management (Tailgate-Music Valley Antique Show AND the Springfield Antique Show and Flea Market) and Sue Whitney.
Introductions…
Jon…trying to get inside information for the junk challenge…
Shannon and Julie (of Gathered Comforts) with Sue. Everybody had made lots of new junkin’ buddies by the end of the night!
Last but not least…me and Sue – don’t mind the blur – that’s just how we roll!!
Hope you enjoyed my sort of lengthy post (sorry, you know me and pictures – I feel like I have to share them ALL!!). It was great fun, and I’m looking forward to our next little get together – which BY THE WAY will be at the May Extravaganza (May 18-20) at the Springfield Antique Show & Flea Market – the Vintage Marketplace (Ohio Style), and believe me, if you loved what you saw in Nashville – I can promise you it’ll be even bigger when it all rolls onto the fairgrounds at Springfield. A lot of the same vendors will be there, and bunches more! We’ll be under the big Vintage Marketplace tent – in the area of the center hub of the grounds (more details to come). There will be special events (a party???, etc…) going on all weekend, and Sue Whitney will be there to inform, entertain, and junk with us – it doesn’t get much better than that (trust me!!). So, stay tuned for more details – join the Springfield Antique Show & Flea Market and the Vintage Marketplace on facebook – things are developing almost daily…
For information on participating as a vendor, please email JonJIndpls@aol.com or by calling 317-431-0118. Limited space is available, so book promptly to not miss out on the exciting new component at the May Extravaganza.
HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!!! It’s going to be the best Extravaganza ever!!
Have a great weekend, and may all your junk wishes come true!!
Kathy
