Here's a corner of my backyard (junk garden)last week...and the snow seems to keep coming...ok it IS winter, and it IS Ohio, but...
OK, I won't rant too much about the weather in Ohio...8 inches or more of snow, wind, and about 20 degrees... I know there are other parts of the country that are going through much worse - BUT, in my little corner of the world - I'd much rather see some green grass on the ground - just sayin'!
So, on a snowy day, I think about how far we are away from the fleamarket season (also garage sales, tag sales, etc...) - so, thought I'd share a junking trip I took this past November. My friend Robin and I had the chance to ride along with our husbands to Charlotte, NC...they were going to watch races, and we tagged along to go junking (I had been scouting out some locations, and the prospects sounded good). I was also going to meet a facebook friend as well - so it was going to be a good time!
Here was the plan...
1. The International Collectibles & Antiques Fall Classic (held twice yearly at the Metrolina Expo Center). There are monthly shows as well, but we wanted to hit the "big" one (there's another one in March too)!!
2. Also on our list were visits to the Sleepy Poet Antique Mall and The Depot at Gibson Mill...and whatever else we found along the way...
So, on Friday, we set out to hit the antique flea market at the Metrolina, where we met my new junking friend, Brenda (recently transplanted from Orlando - and I bet she's wishing she was down south right about now - I think they've got ice AND snow) We walked and talked and shopped (yep, it can be done at the same time - it just takes a little longer, that's all!). We were amazed at the wonderful stuff we saw, and the fabulous vendor booths that were set up. Here are some pics from the Fall Classic...
