FOUND: by the curb, in the rain, just around the corner...

After a "Monday" at work, I was almost home and spied some "junk" alongside the curb - a nice little cabinet (and miscellaneous stuff with a "free" sign) that I should have stopped immediately to check out. But, it was a little drizzly, I was tired, and it was dinnertime (how does junk lose out over my stomach...not sure - guess it was a momentary lapse in good "junk" judgment...) - anyway, I'll keep going with this little tale...

So, when I got home I told my hubby about the cabinet (he loves when I want to bring home more junk...but at least it's not stray animals that you have to feed, right??), and we decided to check it out on our way to the grocery store - in the meantime, we ate, washed dishes, took the dog for a walk...and THEN left for the store. (This was about an hour and a half later...and I was sure it would be gone.)

Hey Jersey, ready for a "w-a-l-k" (gotta spell it)...?

When we drove up my husband thought it just looked like a bathroom vanity or something (men....ha ha)...BUT upon closer inspection - (actually a quick look as we slowly drove by) - I realized the little cabinet I spied was the bottom half of an antique (oak) Hoosier cabinet - woo hoo and holy cow! So, a quick turn around (without hitting any oncoming traffic) and we whipped the door open on the van, loaded her up - and it was ours (mine)!!

Isn't she lovely?? (and she's got lots of good years left in her...)

It's a little dirty (no problem), and needs a repair to a rail on the top (no problem) - but is as sturdy as can be and will make an AWESOME project desk for my basement workshop. I love the aluminum on the top (that'll hold up to a lot of crafty abuse),

There are little shelves inside the door, dividers in the top drawer, and the bottom drawer is a "bread drawer" lined in aluminum - so there's some great storage! And, the cutting board is still intact...

(love those old glass knobs...)
I'm so excited - will show pics after I get it cleaned and set up in its new "home"!

P.S. And...I think I'll keep my eye out to see if they throw out her top cabinet...ya never know!

Have a great day and wishing you lots of great junk!

Kathy
