Hello and happy October – the trees are changing and it’s a beautiful time of year! Our pool is closed (darn), the humming birds have deserted me for a warmer climate (they’re such smart little birdies…I just hate saying good-bye), AND we’re getting ready for a wedding in December!
I’ve been wanting to share pics from Springfield Extravaganza…but, the time is getting away from me… We recently had my daughter’s bridal shower, and it was fabulous!! (So am sharing a few pics from that too!). And, now I’m playing catch up on my blog!!
Here we go (I’ll just provide a “little” commentary)!
Just in case we got confused about the date – the vintage “virtual” calendar reminded us – it’s time for EXTRAVAGANZA at Springfield!
Sunrise on Friday morning – so beautiful (at 6:00 a.m.)!
Our booth…oodles and oodles of jewelry and vintage STUFF!
A little cabinet that I embellished…
A couple pieces of needlework…that I framed and embellished (notice a trend here???)
Old architectural pieces – Terri embellished (ok…painted) with numbers (everybody loves numbers!)
Silver, silver, silver…always a hit!
Thrift store finds – mug trees made into jewelry holder/display pieces.
Being at the Extravaganza…makes us…
The vanity turned out fabulous and Terri recovered the seat and added a beautiful French design to the fabric! (and it looks like I got caught in the pic too!)
Yes…we’ve still got a few clocks left…just a few though!
Outside looking in…
We brought a bit of the beach with us…
Shoppers – isn’t she just the cutest???
Not sure what to say…
Love this…
Saturday morning…such beautiful weather for a fleamarket!!
My new junking California girlfriend!!! Meet Erika!!
And, we had some fun right away (for our friend Mindy Sue)!!
She shared a space with (one of the busiest junkers ever) Troy aka Rusty ‘n’ Chippy. They have fabulous style!
I saw this tiny little vintage shopping cart, and then I “made” Terri buy it (one of us had to have it!!!)
More new junk friends and fabulous customers…Cindy & Lydia! (See you girls in Columbus soon!!)
The crowds were amazing…we had a record weekend! Thanks to all our wonderful customers!!!!
And Christmas came a little early to Springfield…
I remember my Grandpa (I called him Gramps), had one of these fun little bartenders…Charlie Weaver. He’d pour the drink and raise it up to his mouth, and then smoke would come out of his ears!!! Back in the 60s…that was amazing!
Under the big tent, we found some interesting characters. Wouldn’t you agree??
It was a wonderful show. We just love the Extravaganzas…sold lots of stuff, made new friends (too much fun!), and found a few goodies for ourselves (always)!

Now, on to the bridal shower. It was a blast having Kristen & Tom, Tom’s Mom – Terry, and sister – Kim…AND the girls!!! Rachel, Ellen, Katelin and Kristen!! It was a busy three days, but loaded with fun and lots of love for our sweet bride-to-be! We had a great turn out of family and friends (even my Mom…so happy she could make it!!).
Grandma Sylvia & Kristen
Kristen and Tom…yes, he’s a Yankees fan – but that’s OK!
Kristen and four of her girls! Rachel, Ellen, Katelin, Kristen and our Kristen! (We were missing Kim and Terry because of flight delays)
The happy Moms!!
We put together centerpieces with vintage “junk” I found in my basement (who knew I had so much great stuff???), pics of the “kids”, and a little Scrabble fun here and there…You know I was having too much fun with junk!
Favors for the guests…perfectly said “The perfect pair” (and they are!!)
This wonderful (and fun) work of art was done by an artist from the Cleveland area…Angela Oster
Here’s her website: http://angelaoster.com/Site/Welcome.html – stop by and take a peek at her talent and imagination…
Here’s our little girl – her apron AND some spoons – she’s ready to start cookin’!
And all the guests brought recipe cards for Tom and Kristen and tucked them inside this fun box – they like to cook together (ok…don’t ya just love a guy who cooks??)
And guess who got to wear a toilet paper wedding dress??? Well I tried…just a little wardrobe malfunction!
And the winner was…Susan!!
And, we thought it’d be fun to toss our tp…I mean bouquets!
The bride-to-be with her fabulous bridesmaids. Thank you girls (and Terry) – you helped make it a wonderful, memorable event! Can’t wait for the wedding!!
I made/painted the sign… (And, ok…I originally found it on Pinterest…)
And, did I mention we had some delicious cupcakes?? (The top of the large stack of cupcakes was our cake topper from our wedding 33 years ago.)
And here’s Tom…surrounded by all those beautiful girls – it’s a tough job, but someone had to do it!!
The girls had a game where Tom had answered questions prior to the shower, and Kristen had to guess how he would answer them – And, his answers were perfect…so thoughtful and pretty funny!!
That’s just a glimpse (you know there were probably a couple hundred more pics…). We’re just so happy for our little Kristen (she’ll always be our little girl), and are so excited for the wedding (in less than two months she’ll be Mrs. Thomas Hewitt Jr.).
And he brought roses…again…perfect! (We’re gonna keep him!!)
And, I can’t forget to mention all the help I got from my girlfriends (making things, set up, food, etc…..) – you all made it perfect (and helped keep me sane – if that’s possible?!)!!! I feel so blessed to have the friendship and support of such awesome women!
THANK YOU SO MUCH – I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

We’ve been asked to do a trunk show (thank you so much Carlene & Betsy!) at a wonderful store in the Short North area of Columbus during the monthly Gallery Hop. We’ll be taking our redesigned (and junk) jewelry on the road, and are SOOOOO darned excited (did I already say that??). Anyway…here are the details:
