A party in a garden…what’s not to love?

DSC03183

Hello all, hoping your day is as bright and beautiful as it is here in Ohio today – a wonderful summer day (for today anyway)…  So, I know you’ll love the pictures I have from my friend Ellen’s recent garden party at her beautiful home in Columbus…it' was an “oh so summery night”!

It was a very warm summer evening (about 90 degrees, but we can handle it!!), and four of us drove to Columbus (Terri, Susan, Tori and I) with our jaunty vintage hats (one of the requirements to attend…), and some scrumptious snacks - I made a peanut butter cheese ball…I know – peanut butter AND cheese ball in the same title – it’s gotta be stinkin’ delish – like a giant buckeye!!  And, of course, I found it on my newest favoritist (is that a word??) site…you guessed it – (PINTEREST)!

Oh my gosh, what a place – you can get lost for hours…maybe days…looking at everything from recipes, to unbelievable project ideas, sewing tutorials, clothing, jewelry, wedding ideas (my daughter is getting married in December, and PINTEREST has done nothing but flooded me with fabulous ideas…now to pick and choose! ha ha!!)… And, there’s so much more – if it’s something you’re interested in…it can be found on PINTEREST (when do I get my marketing job???)!

Anyway, back to the cheese ball – here’s the link (just in case you’re tempted)
It originally came from a “sweet” little blog named The Girl Who Ate Everything!

Now…..back to our adventure!  The pictures tell the story, but you know I’ll add a few words!!

Ellen’s home…so welcoming and a gardening delight!!

And here’s the hostess with the absolute mostess!!

One of our first stops in her backyard (aka garden sanctuary)…was her new “old” pergola – secret garden sitting area.  It was just built by a friend of ours, Debby Martinez of Treasure & Tea in Mansfield..it’s simply divine!!  It was constructed of pieces and parts of reclaimed architectural awesomeness…and it already looks like it’s been there for ages!.

A little water feature tucked into a corner…so relaxing!

And ornamental iron pieces….oh yeah!!

Susan and Terri admiring the rooftop…picket fencing to let the “day” light AND “moon” light shine through!

Old posts and columns are functional once again!

The flowers are beautiful – Ellen has the greenest thumb I’ve ever seen.

Isn’t the old block just amazing?

And here’s the view peeking out into the garden from the pergola…it’s magical!

No spot is left untouched…with flowers and greenery AND some beautiful rusty, crusty “junk”!
DSC03203
Oh darn, no one’s home right now…they don’t know what they’re missing tonite – lots of friends, fun and food (the 3 “F”s…)!  (or maybe we scared them away!)
DSC03204
Have a seat!
DSC03205
Gazing into the garden…it’s hard to take it all in!
DSC03206
Trying to beat the heat, we’re relaxing in the shade of the evening!
DSC03208
Here’s the “garden view’ of the garage (handpainted by Terri a few years ago…and I helped…shade the blocks!)
DSC03210
Isn’t it gorgeous?  Sometimes it’s hard to tell which ones are the real flowers or the painted ones.  In the winter it’s a beautiful view too!
DSC03207
Looks like the front door of an old cottage, with the roses trailing above…

On the other side of the garden…well…more flowers and more great “junk”.DSC03215

Are you in junk love yet??? I am!  Aren’t these old grates absolutely fabulous  – and aged to perfection??
DSC03221
Hmmmm…which one is your favorite??

No birdies bathing tonite…

Just before dark…what a view into the pergola!

An old headboard – love this shade of rusty aqua!

Need a drink???  You’ll have to stand in line behind the birds…
DSC03243
Again, I don’t think anyone was home tonite…  They have a great view of the garden from up there though, don’t they??

A tomato…ready for some salad!
DSC03237
There she is…right at home… :)
DSC03249
Susan was just amazed by it all – and making plans for a pergola of her own!
DSC03251
Heather, Ellen and Katie (of SoboStyle) – having fun girls???
DSC03256
And, before we left, I couldn’t resist taking a few pics out on the front porch  – what a wonderful place to relax…
DSC03264
And, I thought this little light was just so sweet!
DSC03268
I don’t remember what these plants were called, but they looked so cool at night, with the glow from the porch lights.
