Junk Mail

My "junk" friend (and am using the term "junk" loosely - she's a treasure!!),
Candy, sent me a package the other day........

When I went on vacation last month, I came across an old (really rusty) test tube holder - and it reminded me of a project that Candy had done in January on the JunkMarketStyle site using glass cigar tubes, a wood stand, and tulips - http://www.junkmarketstyle.com/item/6605/glass-cigar-tubes-totally-tubular-project- so, I snatched it up right away (it only had 3 test tubes, but I knew I'd come across more...AND, my "junk" angel was watching over me...). So, when I posted my vacation finds, and Candy saw the test tube holder...well, she very generously decided to send me some to complete my project.
The package came last week (and in typical Candy-style) it was wrapped very creatively - and beautifully in a junky sort of way! The tag even matched - with a stamp of a box of cigars...not sure how she did that - but a very cool touch! And, a very sweet note on the back of the tag too...
Well, I couldn't open it fast enough (I did slow down a bit to get pictues though) - and sure enough there were nine beautiful glass cigar tubes inside... I didn't have any fresh flowers, but used some button stems from a bouquet I was working on, so I could get the full effect - and I think it's divine!!! I can't wait to bring flowers in from my garden and show them off in my new bud vases!
Candy - thank you so much. It was all very thoughtful and I appreciate them soooo much! I'm looking forward to meeting my junk friend in person, and to a junking adventure as soon as we get out of this wintery weather! (and I may have a little junky bit of something for you too!!)

P.S. JunkMarketStyle.com is a wonderful site where creative people (junkers, antiquers, crafters, artists, etc...) come together and very generously share their creations - ideas - tips, etc. It's been a great place to meet new friends and to find out that there are a whole lot of "lovers of junk" out there - it's a great support group - it's no "Junkaholics Anonymous" for sure!! Thanks to Sue Whitney and her contributors for making it a fresh and fun place to visit almost (every day) - yep...it's addicting too!!
Looks like a clue on the tag...cool, huh??

These are the smoke-free version...no cigars...just the glass tubes...
No warning necessary...these are gonna hold some flowers...
A perfect fit, and one extra...just in case...
My "faux" button blooms!

A view from the "Radio Flyer"

Just a note from my friend...

A close up - aren't the buttons fun???

An extra picture of the Radio Flyer - just for fun - isn't it cool??? Found it in Florida on vacation.

  2. Is it coincidence that those cigar tubes fit so perfectly in that rusty thing? What exactly is that....oh who cares..it's incredible!

  3. Cassie, The glass tubes fit just like they were MFEO (made for each other) - the the rusty thing (and it's REALLY rusty too...) is an old test tube holder I think. Thanks for visiting!

  4. Kathy, I just love your test tube with the new cigar tubes and flowers in made in it. I love the wire flowers individual like you've shown very much. I may have to try some of those with the buttons I don't use for my jewelry.
Love how your new junk buddy just surprised you like she did and then her special packaging was soooo very cool as well. Thanks for sharing your joy with us on your gift, as well as the project. It makes it that much more special.
btw, I've just added your new blog to my blog list I have on my blog. It's going to be fun to watch your postings on a regular basis.
